Unveiling ceremonies of the Square d'Albion

Thanks to the generosity of Albion's inhabitants who raised funds to replace trees devastated during the hurricane of the century end of 1999, Noisy le Roi has achieved on Thanksgiving day, the last run of trees plantation.
A first set of trees was planted in February 2001 and a commemorative plaque was unveiled in June 2001 with the participation of a large Albion delegation in front of our Collège (Junior High School).
Due to several urban development in this area, the second stage was delayed until now. The plantation area is located outside of the Collège, near the donation's commemorative plaque.
The plantation is a mix of trees and bushes circling an area of 300 square yards, and two green garden benches are completing this friendly place. The operation was undertaken by young students from the Collège with the support of the Open Space Services of Noisy le Roi city.
Noisy le Roi City Hall Council has decided unanimously last November 17. to call this area "Square d'Albion", to thank Albion inhabitants for their friendly and generous gesture to their Sister City. What a better day than to hold this official ceremony of plantation and unveiling of the Square d'Albion sign on Thanksgiving day, November 27. 2003!
A reception was held after the ceremony in the school cafeteria, prepared by students learning how to cook and serve food. In the attendance, we could notice: Noisy le Roi City Hall members, Education Organizations representatives, students, Associations representatives and Sister City Committee members.(the sun arrived one day late)

Albion delegation visited Noisy le Roi, June 8 through 11, 2001

An official Albion delegation visited Noisy le Roi during the annual "Cedar Tree" Festival (Noisy's peak gathering in commemoration of the Cedar Tree planted some 200 years ago, now felled because of old age). The delegation includes prominent Albion citizens, such as Mr Bill Wheaton, Mayor, and Mrs Marjorie Ulbrich, President of Albion's Sistership Committee. Visitors has been accompanied by their spouses.

Timing of the Albion visit to Noisy - June 8 through 11, 2001 - has been selected to coincide with the Noisy le Roi Cedar Festival, during which several special events are being organized. The Albion party will participate in most of them.

In fact, Noisy le Roi returns the courtesy of Albion, who hosted a Noisy le Roi delegation that visited Albion in September 2000, conducted by Noisy-le-Roi's mayor, Mr Michel Colin, and during which the sistership protocole was signed.

During their stay in Noisy, the Albion delegates have pursued various workshops, initiated in Albion in September 2000. The workshops were planned for Friday, June 8, and representatives of various Noisy "organizations" have been invited to participate.

On Saturday, June 9, 2001 the Albion delegates have inaugurated a plaque commemorating the planting of several trees offered by the Albion citizens to Noisy. Follow-up meetings have included an official reception at the City Hall and lunch at the "Jardins de Noisy", a community residence for retired people.

The visitors have participated in a Barbecue at the local Tennis Club Lounge on Sunday June 10, while the next day, the workshops have continued. The Albion party have leaved Noisy on Tuesday June 12, 2001.

It is expected that this sistership venture will yield positive exchange experiences on cultural and economic issues for the citizens of both Albion and Noisy, and we welcome individual participation.
